From the Pastor
I would like
to introduce you to myself as well as my family. I am Rev. Doug Vandeburgt,
pastor of the Trinity Canadian Reformed Church in Glanbrook. Both my wife
Karen and I were raised in the
Fraser
Valley of beautiful British Columbia. In 1994 Karen graduated from the
University of British Columbia with a B.A. in History while I graduated from
Trinity Western University with a B.A. in Biblical Studies. From there it
was on to Hamilton, Ontario where Karen did a further one year program for
her teacher’s training while I entered seminary. At the end of that first
school year we returned to British Columbia for the summer and we were
married on August 5, 1995.
Upon our
return we took up residence in Burlington, ON. I resumed seminary studies
while
Karen
went into teaching full time. In July of 1996 the Lord blessed us with our
first child, Leah. In May of 1998 during the final exams of my last year at
seminary we received another child from the Lord whom we named
Joel.
Upon
completion of my studies at the
Theological
College of the Canadian Reformed Churches I received a Master of Divinity
degree. Then the Lord opened for us a way into the ministry and in January
of 1999 I was ordained in the Emmanuel American Reformed Church in Denver,
CO. In Denver our third child was born whom we named
Seth.
He proudly holds the distinction of our only family member with dual
citizenship. A little after three years in Denver we moved to Binbrook, ON
having accepted the call extended to us by the Trinity Canadian Reformed
Church.
Under the
Lord’s blessing we have been working here since April of 2002. In August 2003 the Lord granted to us a son whom we named Levi.
On June 21, 2007, our family was enriched again with the birth of another
daughter, Eden. While
what I write above is a way of introducing my family and myself by way of
facts, what cannot be adequately expressed is how through it all the Lord has
been with our family and provided us with all that we need. It is a joy and
privilege to work in his service as we serve his people in the Trinity
Canadian Reformed Church. |
